The Desirability of Sustainable Materials
In a context of increasing “greenwashing”, where companies often claim sustainability without backing it up, the need for genuinely sustainable materials and composites to be aesthetically pleasing is paramount. This not only encourages consumers but also challenges manufacturers to adopt these truly sustainable alternatives.
Drawing from his background as an engineer in the world of product development, Tim Huber’s research is particularly focused on this issue. His research delves deep into consumer responses to sustainable and bio-based polymers, seeking to unravel the barriers and challenges associated with these materials. Additionally, he collaborates with companies and product designers, guiding them in the transition towards substituting materials in their products while ensuring they maintain aesthetic appeal.
At LIST, working with industry is part of the research institute’s DNA. As a mission-oriented Research and Technology Organization (RTO), LIST specializes in crafting competitive, market-ready prototypes for both public and private clients. Through strategic research partnerships and close collaboration, LIST leverages these alliances to drive innovation and facilitate the seamless transition of cutting-edge technologies into the marketplace.
