By providing high-quality facilities, resources and services available to researchers, partners and companies, our research infrastructures ensuring that science remains impact-driven and effectively addresses the challenges facing our society.

The Luxembourg Clinical and Translational Research Centre

The Luxembourg Clinical and Translational Research Centre (LCTR) offers cutting-edge research infrastructure, medical equipment, and administrative and project management support. It serves all Luxembourgish players, including hospitals, the University, research institutions as well as private entities from Biotech, Medtech and Pharma, and alleviates the need for parallel clinical research initiatives. At the same time the LCTR can help define shared standards and common quality criteria for clinical trials, in particular where patient samples and data are concerned.

LCTR is co-managed by both the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Health and works in close cooperation with Hôpitaux Robert Schuman and the Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch.

The Disease Modelling and Screening Platform

The Disease modelling and screening platform (DMSP) is an interface between fundamental biomedical research and high standard drug discovery. This state-of-the-art platform, a collaboration between the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), provides infrastructures and services related to early drug discovery such as high throughput or phenotypic screenings in various 2D and 3D cell culture-based disease models.

The Translational Medicine Operations Hub

The Translational Medicine Operations Hub (TMOH) at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) ensures full research support from the operational planning of the study to their execution and closure via the collection, processing, storage and analysis of high-quality biological samples and structured clinical data. It provides the infrastructure to intra-institutional research, as well as transversal translational projects of Research Luxembourg and collaborations with external partners.

The Integrated Biobank

The Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg (IBBL) is an institute organised within the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and dedicated to supporting biomedical research for the benefit of patients. They provide biospecimen-related services and a biobanking infrastructure for applied medical research.

The Bioincubator

The Bioincubator offers young Digital HealthTech companies a home: over 300m2 of fully equipped lab and office space. It also provides entrepreneurial support and professional coaching in the field of business development, focusing on sector-specific activities. Supported by the Ministry of the Economy and the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), the Bioincubator is a collaboration between the LCSB, the LIH and Technoport, the leading technology incubator in Luxembourg. Funded in the framework of the FNR’s Knowledge & Innovation Transfer Support Programme (KITS), this joint initiative is a testament to the country’s commitment to fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in the HealthTech sector.

Located in the House of BioHealth in Esch-sur-Alzette, the Bioincubator is part of the larger HE:AL campus currently under construction. It is strategically located near the future Südspidol hospital campus, the University of Luxembourg and other national research institutions, providing an ideal environment for HealthTech companies.
