Collaboration with industry is central to Research Luxembourg to articulate its vision. Through strong partnerships, research players seek to support existing and future industries.
The National Research and Innovation Strategy aims to encourage companies to undertake research, development and innovation activities. In order to make research a driver for economic diversification and for innovation in industry, the government encourages the development of public-private partnership programmes.
A fertile environment for innovation
Luxembourg is ranked the 12th most innovative country in the world according to the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2021 and is a strong innovator according to the European Innovation Scoreboard 2021, standing out in attractive research systems, human resources, and intellectual assets indicators. These rankings highlight the considerable development of Luxembourg’s research and innovation ecosystem and are an important recognition of the country’s ongoing efforts to develop a world-class R&D landscape.
In order to encourage the emergence of innovative projects, the country offers many public and private grants to finance R&D activities. Many financial incentives and other support measures to assist companies are available.
