Soft Matters Physics
Liquid crystals can revolutionise many sectors, from anti-counterfeiting technologies to improving bridge health monitoring and meeting the challenges of robotic surgery. Discover the fascinating properties of these materials thanks to Professor Jan Lagerwall, an internationally recognised researcher in the field.
Jan Lagerwall is a Full Professor of experimental soft matter physics in the department of Physics and Materials Science at the University of Luxembourg and Head of the Experimental Soft Matter Physics group.
His research explores liquid crystals, colloids and polymers in unconventional contexts and form factors, such as shells, tubes and fibres. His activities span from curiosity-driven fundamental physics investigations to applying research results in solving real-world problems. Professor Lagerwall is an internationally recogniSed leader in liquid crystal research.

Listen to Prof. Jan Lagerwall to discover his innovative research on liquid crystals and this work to make them suitable for various applications in domains such as anti-counterfeiting and traceability, building safety and infrastructure integrity or medicine and robotic surgery.
